Shelter Care for Kids

in Minneapolis

Needs Your Help!

Shelter Care for Kids is looking for energetic volunteers to help us make repairs and updates to our facility. We are located in a 1906 former duplex in the Powderhorn neighborhood of South Minneapolis. We offer a safe and caring home for up to 10 children at a time in emergency foster placement. As you can imagine, a home with 10 children sees a lot of activity and gets a lot of use! Once per year we make a point to set aside a few days to make repairs and updates to prepare for another year of taking care of amazing kids.

Join us on the dates listed below to help paint and update bedrooms, install new flooring, spruce up our yard and keep our house a great place for kids. Please fill out a Volunteer Interest Form below prior to the day(s) you can help.

Thursday, April 21: 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Saturday, April 23: 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

Additional dates may be added.

Examples of jobs to be completed during the “Big Spring Clean”:

Painting, installing televisions, fixing window screens, installing flooring,

yard clean up, gardening, small house and playground repairs.
